WA:Rayney to get a judge alone murder trial
The former chief justice of the Northern Territory Supreme Court will preside over
the murder trial of prominent Perth barrister LLOYD RAYNEY.
BRIAN MARTIN will preside without a jury in the trial of 48-year-old RAYNEY, who's
accused of wilfully murdering his wife CORRYN in 2007.
An order for the judge-alone trial, which is due to begin in May and run for up to
20 weeks, was made in October, but suppressed until now.
Mrs RAYNEY, a former Supreme Court registrar, disappeared in August 2007.
The 44-year-old's car was found nine days after her disappearance and police found
her body buried in a shallow grave in Kings Park.
