Vic: Police identify women found dead in submerged car.
Police have identified the bodies of two women found dead in a submerged vehicle in
Victoria's east.
Police say one of the women was a 56-year-old from Metung in Victoria's east, near
Lakes Entrance where the bodies were found.
The second is a 67-year-old from Moruya, on the New South Wales south coast.
Their names are yet to be released.
The two bodies were found in a station wagon submerged in three metres of water near
the Bullock Island boat ramp at Lakes Entrance yesterday afternoon.
Three dogs were also found dead in the vehicle.
Police believe the car entered the water on Tuesday night or yesterday morning.
The car was initially spotted 30 metres offshore by a charter boat operator yesterday afternoon.
Police say autopsies will be carried out today to determine the exact cause of each
woman's death.
The vehicle will also be examined today.
