ALBANY - After months of drafting a law to restrict where convicted sex offenders can live in Albany County, the measure comes to the floor tonight for a vote by the Legislature.
But whether county lawmakers will actually get to debate the bill and vote on it is doubtful.
It's possible Legislature Chairman Charles Houghtaling could refer the proposal back to committee without discussion.
The law prohibits Level 2 and 3 registered sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of schools or day care centers. Late last month, a public hearing was held. Five people spoke, all but one solidly behind the measure. …
